Originally built in the early 19th century, it is a large, corner pub that attracts the nearby Stockport College crowd, also very handy for the municipal buildings, and Art Gallery / War Memorial. Although opened-out internally, the vestiges of walls and pillars produce intimate areas in the pub. A good-looking bar and an octagonal-mirrored ceiling piece add interest. The beer range is modest, but may well be extended if there is demand. There are active darts and pools teams, an open-mic night is every Thu, while bands and groups play occasionally on a Fri or Sat (see details posted at the pub).. NB. pub may close early on midweek evenings.
